Biography
Andrew Cormack is Chief Regulatory Adviser at Janet, responsible for understanding the regulatory and policy issues of Janet's networked services. He joined the company in 1999 to run JANET-CERT and tries to remember something about technology while studying the law.
Abstract
Enforcing copyrights & other laws online
The legal duties placed on networks, websites and other intermediaries to deal with unlawful content have to balance the interests of victims, operators and legitimate users. With changes being proposed to the duties in the areas of copyright and defamation, this talk will consider how these may affect the services provided by Janet and its customers.
